With Valentines Day just around the corner, this app arrives in a timely manner. A Love Reminder – I think we all need this one – read this great interview with Harvey Castro the love guru behind it, it’s fascinating….

The Beginning

Hi Harvey, can you tell our readers how your app was originally thought of, what were your thoughts behind the marketplace, specifically?

Originally, I was working on an app that would help remind me to follow up with patients. As an Emergency Room Physician, it is difficult to call patients after being off for several days. Often we work on and off for several days. When I came back to the ER, it is difficult to remember the name of a specific patient. I decided to create an app that would help remind me to call a patient. Later, I decided it would be nice to text my wife during long stretches of night shifts. Sometimes, I can not tell my wife how much I care about her during the day since I am up at night and sleeping during the day. I thought it would be neat to send her a text during the middle of the day telling her how much I care about her. I set the app to text her a love quote for later in the week.

The Design

Can you tell us how you came up with the colors and themes ideas, design?

Sure Joanne, the colors and theme were focus around the pretext bible love verses, and other love quotes that are in the app. The picture of “Christ the Redeemer (statue) that is in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Target Market

Who do you see as the main target market for this app, Harvey?

We believe that anyone that wants to make communicating with love ones more efficiently. Men mostly often do not communicate how they feel or forget important dates. This app helps create a list of important dates and pre-register them and upload them to our server. We then send out the text on that given time and date. This is the ideal app for remembering those love ones. If something changes then we created a place where you can cancel the pretext SMS. The app also allows you to save 5 frequent phone numbers, but you are able to text anyone pretty easy.

Production

How long did it take from the original planning to the production process of your app?

It took about 3 months to fully get the app to where I felt comfortable before I submitted it to Apple. I wanted to take all the feedback from a reminder and make a better reminder app for A Love Reminder.

Sales

How do you view your sales, is there a good solid market for this style of app?

I think the sales would be better if more people knew about this app.

Obstacles

What has been the hardest obstacle you have had to overcome regarding this app development?

We currently allow our users to register other cellphone providers. For example, more than likely not all your friends and family use AT&T. The app provides a way for you to text most major cellphone providers.

Third Parties

iPad

The Apple iPad – what are your thoughts about it and how do you think your app will integrate?

I think that we will have a new population of users that will embrace this technology. I strongly believe health care providers will use these in the medical setting. Another population that will use this platform are students. Personally, I would have loved to have this device when in medical school. I think it would have saved my back from carrying tons of weight. My applications will do very well on the iPad. I can not wait to purchase my device.
